Aviator Aircraft Sales, led by Peter Dalton, was appointed to represent Optical Express Aviation in the acquisition of a suitable business aircraft to meet the company’s operational requirements.
The process began with a detailed market review of the light jet and turboprops-for-sale/" title="Turboprop">turboprop sectors, assessing available aircraft against the client’s intended mission profile, operating requirements and acquisition budget. Following this review, Aviator Aircraft Sales identified the Cessna Citation CJ1+ as the most suitable aircraft, offering the right balance of performance, operating economics and acquisition value.
Once the aircraft had been selected, we negotiated the purchase price on behalf of the buyer and coordinated the progression of the Aircraft Purchase Agreement, working closely with the legal representatives acting for both purchaser and seller. This transaction placed particular emphasis on ensuring the contractual structure clearly protected our client throughout the acquisition process.
We also coordinated with specialist aviation tax and customs advisers Martyn Fiddler to ensure the transaction, ownership and import considerations were appropriately managed.
Aviator subsequently negotiated the pre-purchase inspection workscope and remained directly involved throughout the inspection process, overseeing technical findings and progression towards aircraft acceptance. During this period, we also coordinated an interior enhancement programme, including replacement carpeting and leather reconditioning, preparing the aircraft to the standard required by the new owner.
The closing process required coordination between multiple parties and jurisdictions, including the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry and the Malta Civil Aviation Directorate, to manage the transition between registrations and ensure an orderly completion.
Following closing, Aviator Aircraft Sales continued to oversee the aircraft registration and conformity process with the buyer’s chosen aircraft management company and operator, Air Charter Scotland.
The aircraft is now fully operational and in service with its new owner.
